Losing a loved one is a very difficult experience and making arrangements for the final resting place of their cremated remains can be a challenging task.  While we will return the cremated remains of your loved one in a holding urn, you may decide to select a cremation urn suitable to the needs of the final disposition.  For example, choosing a memorial urn that will be displayed in your home serves a very different function than one that will be buried.  If the urn will be placed in a cemetery niche or cremation garden of your church, there may be specific size requirements.  If the urn will be displayed in an indoor environment, most styles are appropriate and there are countless highly decorative, beautiful urns made of colorful glass, crystal or porcelain that look like handcrafted pieces of art to complement your décor.  If you intend to bury the urn or display it somewhere outdoors, like in a garden, you will need to purchase something more durable such as marble, granite or a cultured creation.  Most cemeteries in the Chicagoland area require an urn outer burial container for burial, however, most will also allow the burial of a cultured creation urn without an outer burial container, saving on the additional expense.  If you are planning to scatter cremated remains or have a water burial, there are a host of biodegradable, environmentally friendly urns designed specifically to slip into nature without a negative impact on the environment.  Lastly, for those who would like to keep a small portion of their loved one's cremated remains,  there are a multitude of keepsake urns, jewelry and other personal items that can accommodate a small portion of cremated remains or even a lock of hair.
