William J. Gregory

William J. Gregory, a kind-hearted man with a passion for helping others, peacefully passed away on March 4, 2024, at the age of 76. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. William was the beloved husband of the late Darlene Anne Gregory, nee Holmes; the loving father of Wendy (Joe) Ford, James (Caryn) Gregory and stepfather of Courtney Yeager. His presence will be forever cherished by his grandchildren Taylor and Nicholas Ford, William, Nichole and Jayden Gregory, and step-grandson Corey. William was the supportive brother of Robert (Cindy) and John Gregory and was preceded in death by his sisters, Virginia (Gary) Holmes and Patricia (William) Woelfel, and his late former wife, Donna Kay Gregory, nee Tinberg.

After attending Thornton Township High School, Bill became a dedicated union carpenter for over 38 years with Local #272 before his well-deserved retirement.  Bill was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need and his warm personality and chatty nature made him a favorite among all who crossed his path. William found joy in the simple pleasures of life, from camping and boating to competing and winning model airplane competitions with the Thorn Creek Model Airplane Club.

A true hobbyist, he was also a proud member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) and enjoyed spending time racing his RC cars during the winter months when he couldn’t fly his planes. His legacy as a compassionate and generous soul will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
