Raymond A. Pontarelli

Raymond Pontarelli left his body behind on December 31, 2023 at the age of 54, after giving cancer, and one very good humored oncology nurse, the bird.

Ray was a master carpenter, whose work can be seen throughout the Northwest suburbs. Skiing, boating and music were his passions and he didn’t hesitate to play hooky to pursue them. He lived in the moment, and was known for his generous spirit and colorful vocabulary.

He leaves behind his two children, Christian and Lauren, and their mother, Alisa Prantner, many aunts, uncles and cousins, and his chosen family, Jerry Eberle, Kim Anderson and Karen Cordes. He was preceded in death by his parents, Silvio Pontarelli and Adeline Pontarelli, nee DiPaolo.

A private celebration of Ray’s life and love for a good party was held.

In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Northwest Community Foundation Cancer Patient Assistance Fund in memory of Ray would be appreciated.
