Randall W. Thompson, affectionately known as Randy, passed away on January 26, 2025, in Barrington, Illinois. Born on September 21, 1960, in Chicago, Illinois.
Randy dedicated much of his career to the construction industry as a skilled carpenter. His expertise and dedication to his craft earned him respect among peers and clients alike. He took pride in his work, leaving a legacy of quality and craftsmanship.
In addition to his professional pursuits, Randy was passionate about cars and motorcycles. He found joy in showing and drag racing his 1966 Chevelle at renowned racetracks such as Byron Dragaway and Great Lakes Dragaway. His love for speed and adrenaline was matched only by his appreciation for the open road, which he embraced during long-distance motorcycle rides throughout his life and on his cherished 2002 Harley Davidson Softail that he acquired later in life.
Above all, Randy was fiercely proud of his two daughters, Megan (Nathan) Korpics and Kaitlyn Thompson (Jake Korpics). His devotion to them was evident in the love and support he provided throughout their lives. Randy is also survived by his sisters, Dena Thompson and Cynthia (Bob) Kalis; his nephews, Justin Kalis and Alex Kalis; his stepmother, Christine Freeman; and his girlfriend, Michelle Neagle.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Freeman, and his mother, Peggy Thompson, nee Chatman.
Randy's deep bond with his dog, Holley, was a significant aspect of his life; she was regarded as not just a pet, but as his best friend, providing companionship through the years. Randy's spirit and passion for life will be cherished and remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
As friends and family reflect on Randy's life, they will remember a man driven by both his personal and professional passions, whose legacy will endure in the hearts of those he loved.
