Joretta E. Alexander, nee Weaver, affectionately known as "Joey", of Glenview, Illinois, and formerly of Warren, Ohio, passed away on February 21, 2025 at the age of 88. Born on January 31, 1937, in Arden, West Virginia, Joey lived a life filled with joy and purpose, marked by her vibrant personality and dedication to her family and career.
Joey dedicated an impressive 41 years of her life to General Motors, fulfilling various roles, including that of a production engineer. She took great pride in her work and found immense satisfaction in being part of such a respected institution. Her contributions to the company were numerous, reflecting her commitment to excellence and innovation throughout her career.
An embodiment of positivity, Joey was known for her bubbly disposition and her unwavering willingness to assist others. Her warmth and generosity extended beyond the workplace and into her personal life, where she created lasting memories for her family and friends. Joey was also known for her incredible cooking, with her lasagna being a particular favorite among family and friends.
In her younger years, Joey led an active life filled with adventure, participating in activities such as boating, water skiing, snowmobiling, and bike riding, fully enjoying the great outdoors. Together with her husband, Robert, she embraced a passion for travel, creating wonderful experiences and lasting memories. The cornerstone of her pride was her beautiful family and her enduring, 50-year marriage to her beloved husband, Robert.
In addition to her husband, Robert Alexander, Joey is survived by her loving sons Oba (Reva) Vincent and Brian (Mary) Alexander; her cherished grandchildren, OB (Erin) Vincent, Kira (Josiah) Belzer, Ty (Megan) Vincent, Tina (Mark) Durrenberger and Cara Debenedictis; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Zaiden, Jayce, Addie, Evelyn, Isaac, and Layla. Joey also leaves behind her sister Judy (Joe) Ranieri and her brother John Jr. (Janet) Weaver, along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her siblings Jessalee, Paul, Danny, and David Weaver, Susan Posey and Mary Ellen Haught.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Feb. 25th from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Colonial-Wojciechowski Funeral Home, 8025 W. Golf Rd., Niles. Chapel Prayers will begin at 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 26th at the Funeral Home before traveling to St. Isaac Jogues Parish (All Saints Parish), 8149 W. Golf Rd., Niles for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions made to the Alzheimer's Association are appreciated.
Joey Alexander will be remembered for her bright spirit, commitment to her work and family, and the love she shared throughout her life. Her legacy will continue through the cherished memories she leaves behind.
