Dorothy Ann “Dot” Thompson, nee Michel, 66, of Lake Barrington, passed away March 6, 2021.  Beloved wife of Michael P.; devoted daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Michel; loving sister of Trude (the late Jack) Miller, Rosa (the late Donald) Tufano and the late Joseph (Donna) and Stephen (the late Erika) Michel and sister in law of Jim (Ginny) and Curtis (Barbara) Thompson; adored aunt of Michelle (Bob) Reis, Chris (Jen), Jon (Kristy), Joseph and Bobby (Ali) Michel, Bridget (Don) LaRocco, Monica (Kevin) Blocker, Andrew (Michelle) and Donald Tufano, Nicole (Matt) McMillan, Jason (Debbie) Thompson and the late Steve Michel; dearest great aunt of Bobby, Christine, Amanda, Emily, Stevie, Miles, Bella, A.J., Matthew, Ella, Anthony and Zachary.

Dot regularly demonstrated her extreme creativity and talent.  She was a grand master with one of her favorite pastimes, crocheting.  She spent time with her needles and yarn daily and shared her products of joy with all those she loved and cared for as well as anyone that she met or encountered and made a connection with.  During her daily routine crocheting, she loved to watch her favorite television shows, Cheaters, Maury and would call for Michael to watch Judge Judy at 4:00.

Her talent in the kitchen could not be surpassed.  She will always be remembered for her excellent homemade Italian beef sandwiches, delicious brown gravy and macaroni and cheese.  She also baked amazing cakes, cookies and made candy.  Fridays were her usual day of rest from the kitchen and she often craved one of her favorite take outs, Rosati’s Pizza or Jimmy Johns.

Dot was a great lover of animals and nature.  Leftovers never went to waste with the neighborhood critters.  They all knew where to find a feast.

Dot also enjoyed playing golf and once shot a hole in one, a feat both she and her husband were very proud of.
